Fading away is a much more peaceful process. Burning out leaves you as an exhausted shell in the end.

Burn out because I don't know how to go slow. I'm always giving 110% and putting all my passion into the things I do. Because of that, I keep burning out. However, after sometime, I always managed get back up just to do thing the way I do and burn out all over again. Maybe it's because I do not want to do nothing and just fade away.

I guess the answer to the question is another question. Do you have something in your life that lights your fire and makes you glow on everyone around you? Do you have a cause or an ideal or a vocation that keeps you going on, inspiring others as you go?

If you do, then burn; burn until there is nothing left but a blazing cheshire grin as you drop into eternity.

If not, then find a fire or face the fact you're already faded away; time's just not caught up to you yet.

Fade away, gracefully. Like this poem:
In the battle that goes on through life, I ask but a field that is fair.
A chance that is equal with all of the strife, a courage to strive and to dare.
And if I should win let it be by the code, with my faith and my honor held high.
And if I should lose, let me stand by the road and cheer as the winners go by.

Nothing lasts forever, kid.

That's my mantra sugar! Well me and good old Neil Young, heck I was at that concert for goodness sakes. That was back in the day! I've not burned out yet, and I sure as heck ain't fading away.

that would depend on the situation....

if it's effort for success, the need to do your best, to burn yourself out just to make the effort, is most warranted.

if it's contributions to success, not necessarily yours, the need to fade away after the accomplishment has been done is best. no need for recognition or acknowledgment, just fade away in the dark...

Most (if not all) of us follow the burn-out theory. the need to exert extra effort to accomplish something is essential. but most of us love the recognition of being "the one". to be complemented and acknowledge as the the prime mover or shaker so to speak.

me? yes, i always burn out for the extra mile.... but often, if not always, i fade away after accomplishing it... staying in the background... for recognitions, acknowldgment, compliments are good but the task done is more lasting to bear/remember. that one has contributed, extend his arm, his time, his effort, his best, for a cause worthwhile. and it is more than mere attributes to a man, it's a reward to oneself.

Burn out.
In a flame of glory, of course
{Kurt cobain said somethin similar once.}

By burning out people
have something to remember you by.
Fading away just seems depressing.

Burn out is a bummer.
Fade out is a downer.
Why settle for either?
Do yourself a favor!
