David Koresh had a cult of followers, loaded up on weapons, secluded themselves, and when he didn't surrender to police, someone in the compound started a fire, and the law let them burn alive inside the building.

A religious sect, I think they called themselves the Branch Davidians, holed up in the sect's property in Waco Texas. The leader and some of his followers were wanted by the authorities, but they refused to give themselves up. Days later a fire, the cause of it is still argued by both sides, broke out in the main structure, killing the sects leader and a number of his followers, a large number of whom were women and children. It happened during the Clinton administration.

The American government decided that they didn't like a bunch of (peaceful) people living in a communal setting - they opened fire one day and killed the women and children, trying to draw out David Karesh (sp?), the supposed leader. Janet Reno was actually the person who initiated this bloodbath. Innocent children and women were killed by the government because they owned some guns. There is a very very good documentary on this. After you watch it, you definately want to live in Canada. America is a hateful, mean government. Be careful.

What Jimmy C said (first answer) and Chrissy M. The sad thing is that there were a lot of kids involved. There was also a lot of controversy that the police didn't do things right.

I remember it wasn't until 1979 (I was 14) before I even heard about the war in Vietnam...my parents kept me pretty sheltered. Then I felt pretty stupid asking people about it.

I live in Canada so these events didn't affect me as much as in the US.

Government agents got trigger happy sent in Tanks and burned 80 Women and Children to death - all followers of David Koresh. After the Davidians compound (mt. Carmel) had been set on fire the FBI killed men and children who tried to escape.

Led to the Oklahoma city Bombing by Timothy McVeigh.

It's a very controversial incident. See the links I put below under "Sources". Here's my opinion.
(1) David Koresh was crazy and brought this on himself and his followers.
(2) On the other hand, the government handled it very poorly, resulting in an unnecessary loss of life.

Maybe you mean CABO. A place in Mexico thats usually a Spring Break get-a-way. The whole "what happens in Cabo stays in Cabo" is like the "What happens in Vegas stays in vegas."\
Hope it helps.
