You simply can't. That is how the world really is. There is good and bad. There could never truly be a neutral. So if the one says that the devil exists then God must too. Because devil has a bad connotation attached to it, one must have a good connotation as well. This is assuming you are not talking about mythology. Remember, Hades is not really a devil but also a god so it applies differently. It has to be on present day religion.

Who says such a thing? Speaking as an atheist, I have NEVER heard another atheist claim that the devil exists.

Sounds like another christian misperception to me....

are you addressing one of those communist atheists, whose soul has obviously been taken over by the minions of lucifer, whose entire being will suffer from dry rot and derapturization when the apocalypse comes, i hope so. they will roast, roast, i say in the helliest hell possible if they dare to refuse to bend their knee and other accoutrements before the righeous lord. their skin will peel, their eyeballs melt, their privates wither, their publics scream, their tonsils tintinabulate, their frock coats fly, their scrotum yet further wrinkle---you get the picture, eh? :-)
