Tell him to talk to a urologist- they have more reliable info on this, in all areas- hygene, pleasure, appearance...
Except for the hygene part, I think it's all about personal preference...
He is 18, old enough to make this decision on his own, old enough to know how to clean himself properly...
BTW- my husband is circumsized, and no complaints here...

Circumsition isn't really about cleanliness, some say it keeps infection out better, but studies have proven that there is no difference either way. It's a personal preference. Now days, there is a growing trend in not getting your baby circumsized. I think it all just depends on what the person prefers.
It is possible to damage some nerve endings with this procedure, but it's very unlikely that you would notice much. There is healing time involved, where there is absolutly no sex allowed, so he needs to be aware of that. Also, when dealing with that area at all, there is bound to be some discomforte. He needs to see a urologist and be told all the pros and cons about having this done, and then let him make an informed decision.

The foreskin doesn't have an inherently higher chance of infection or STDs or whatnot. If he hasn't had any problems physically with his foreskin and takes good care of it - i.e. washes it at least once day, etc - then it makes no sense to do it for sanitary reasons. It's really easy to keep the foreskin clean if it's working properly.
If he's getting it done solely for looks you are right to fear he may regret it (doesn't mean he will, but more likely he would than if there were a health reason to do it). A circumcision will remove the foreskin and all the nerves that go with it, so sensation will be reduced. This can be partly minimalized by asking to keep as much of the "inner foreskin" as possible. At the very least it'll feel very different and the area will be sore and really sensitive for a few weeks.
I would suggest having your husband talk to him, and possibly you if you both haven't already. You and your husband seem to be fine with your husband being uncircumcised, perhaps he just needs some reinforcement. For a society that emphasizes individuality and being true to one's self, social pressures are still overbearing at times.

I have just had my circumcision done it a few months ago as an adult (33 years old). I have no issue in terms of sexual satisfaction before and after. So, if he is comfortable and wants to be circumcised, go ahead. It is really no big deal and more a personal choice. As with those responses on "the man is big enough to clean hinmself", it is not about not able to clean yourself, but being circumcised as an adult, I can swear that the difference is huge and great. With an uncut cock, the tendency to have smegma is greater and also bacterias to form and comes the smell. Even if you wash twice a day, it will still happen. But, now with a cut cock, I have no such problems anymore, but I still clean at least twice a day.

Be careful, I had it done when i was a baby and I couldn't walk for 2 years.....
But all kidding aside, at 18 he should have a good idea about how to clean himself, you say your husband is uncircumcised, it isn't hard for him to get clean is it?
Perhaps he is comparing to other guys in the locker room and likes the look? (not in a gay way..)
Have him check into it with a good urologist, there can be complications if not done correctly, and even disfigurement... i myself was done as a baby, so i don't have any idea how the "other half" feels. It would seem to me that the head or glans would feel more sensitive on an uncircumcised penis as it is covered from constant friction from clothing...
