No. A turtle's shell is connected to it's back bone. Look at the underside of a turtle shell (a dead one, with the turtle removed) sometime. The ridge running along the middle of the shell is the turtle's spine.

Yes, turtles, like the crabs they descended from, do shed their shells quite often or whenever they outgrow the old one.

No, because the number of the spots on your turtle is the number of years your turle has thats why they dont shed there shells.

no turtles do not change shells. that is usually crabs. i have had my turtle for 4 years and never has. but scales of there shell do.
