Started my 125 today for the first time in about a year. Ran very rough and a silver liquid leaked out of a black overflow tube from the head. opened the crankcase to check oil and it was same color. What is going on?

Christiano must not be very familiar with dirtbikes...because unlike other 2-strokes where gas/oil mix is run through the crankcase first to serve as lube and eliminate the need for motor oil altogether, dirtbikes use motor oil that lubes the gearbox and the crankcase. the premixed gas/oil in a dirtbike goes straight from the carb into the cylinder, not through the crankcase.

what type of oil depends on how much money you want to spend. I'm assuming it's an old bike so just get some Castrol GTX 10w-40w. you could drop a few extra dollars for a synthetic like motul or some other brands, but I don't see the point really

Rm125 Gear Oil

If i'm not wrong, then you're talking about the gear box oil. The crank case has NO oil, as it's the stuff you're mixing with the fuel. You ARE mixing oil in, right????? The gear box has water in it, for some reason. Change the oil with 2stroke gear oil. You'll probably have to do it, a couple of times, to get it clean. If it keeps getting water in the box, then you've got a split water pump seal, and will have to replace it. Check your radiators, and see if they have oil in them. It's always a good indicator that the water pump seal is stuffed.

you need to change the oil, but do not replace it with normal engine oil, if you do you will burn out the clucth. Go to a dealer ship or a business that specializes in motor cycles and there you can get the right type of oil.

well an rm125 is a two stroke and the only oil that goes in there is usually mixed with the gas that comes out of your tank
