Compression in your bone tissue. Remember it's living tissue like your skin. It's vascular tissue (meaning it's fed with blood). Your muscles are causing the pain because they aren't used to bearing all of your body weight. You aren't allowed to do weight bearing exercise that could compromise the integrity or health of your limb. Just be patient with it, and as you are stronger and more able to weight bear, try to exercise your thigh muscles, quadriceps and hamstrings, under the direction of a physical therapist.

I had the exact same problem, I had a rod in my femur for almost 2 years. Mine hurt because I tried to do too much too fast. First thing though, stop stooping LOL. if the pain is really bad, I would go back to the orthopedic surgeon who put it in and make sure there's nothing wrong with the rod's position or anything like that and she/he can reccommend what to do to stop the pain

I would say that the Rod in your femur might be the cause of your pain.

well how long has it been in there? I had mine out after 11/2 years but wish i just left it in. because the bone grew over the end they use to take it out. and now of course when i lay on my side it hurts ten years later. It could be your muscles? or something with your hip them nerves go a long way. If its still new get off it for a while so it heals right. The rod isnt moving

I wonder how old you are? I would go to a doctor, if the rod is shifting and painful. You may have to get an xray to see why.

i would agree that it is the rod causing the problem. you should go back to the orthopedic surgeon who put the rod in (if he or she is available) and have them x-ray it and see what the problem is. if your orthopedic surgeon isnt available go to any orthopedic surgeon and have them scan you or xray you.
