you can go to the local paper and ask to search their database for that address.

I belive there are laws in several states which require the seller to let you know if the house has been known to be haunted. But of course, the realtor/owner can say they have not experienced anything. Other than going through the local newspapers from the last 100 years, or back to however old the house is, I would do the following: Non-chalantly say that you would really like to have a house that is known to be haunted, or has the potential to be haunted because something tragic happened there. At that point, the seller may open up. And you can check out what he or she says by looking at local papers from that time period.

First of all try the archives..you will definitely find something if there was a murder or as someone said before me go to the court they have them on record. You can also find a neighbor..and elder one and just go ahead and ask..they probably know and they'll tell you. if you want to search on-line try to search for murders and suicides in that area and you will probably find several data bases. good luck

The other suggestions work, in CA there is full disclosure though so if the realtor or seller lies about the houses history they can be sued. You have to share with us why you are concerned though, 'cause if I felt something in the house I sure as heck wouldn't buy it!

Usually a reputable broker will tell you this.
Most houses where a murder or suicide took place get sold for less than market value.
It's a bad stigma to have to live with.

http://www.google.com ------> Type the house's address. If there's no match, try with the previous owner's name. If there's no match, try with the house's streetname, and then with the city itself. Add keywords like "murder", "crime", "police", "suspect", etc. to narrow your search.
If you still feel insecure, go to a library and search in the newspaper database.

your realtor should know--if not the courthouse should have records. just a thought if it is deemed a crime scene then it was most likely murder and not suicide.

Ask a priest. Whether people were killed in there or not, you'll have to keep away the suffering spirits.
