I prefer Avon over Mary Kay. I like the quality of their products. They have products for all skin types and all ages. Makeup, perfume, body sprays, lotions...They have clothes, Jewerly, shoes, accessories... Avon has things for kids and household items. Entertainment items! They also have a line for men and the Mark products for teens are great also! Avon always has great sales and clearances on their products. Avon has been around for over 100 years and still going strong. They also have products that sales are donated to different charities!!! I love Avon!!! Check them out!!!

Avon. It's cheaper, you can find really good deals when stuff's on sale (and there always is one). There's more variety. As far as make up goes there's more colors and formulas to choose from with Avon. When you buy makeup like eye shadows, blushes and powders from Mary Kay, it doesn't come in a compact. That has to be purchased separately. Mary Kay is probably better quality but sometimes the cosmetics have been sitting with the representative for a long time and because of that they can be dryer and more cakey.

Mary Kay has the best word-of-mouth reputation that I have heard over Avon. The products are quality products, once most people that I know use them, it is usually what they prefer. I have a brand that I already like and use, and, having not used any of the Mary Kay line of cosmetics, other than a gift basket of skin stuff, I stick to what I know. Avon, while it's okay, I haven't heard anything bad about it, doesn't seem to be as good as Mary Kay. M.K. can be pricey, but if it works for you, then it is worth it. If you have narrowed it down to these 2 brands, try the Mary Kay. Be sure to ask your rep for a facial/makeover first, so you can get a feel for the products.
If your question is regarding SELLING the line, then go for Mary Kay. I know a woman who does quite well financially with this.

Do you want to become a sales rep or just buy their products?

I personally prefer Avon - their products are nicer, quality is better and there is always something new coming out. Their ultra moisture rich lipsticks (berry mauvey my favourite) are just the best. I tried Mary Kay products and found them too heavy for my skin - I think they are better for mature people over 40.

Younger skin needs lighter make up, we dont need to overload it with heavy foundations.

However if you are thinking of becoming a sales rep, I don't know if you have much of a chance with Avon. I am a sales rep too, but currently the market is saturated with Avon reps. There are so many reps in my block alone, I am having problems finding new clients.

What ever you choose, good luck.

I prefer Mary Kay because of the ingredients they use and also Avon uses animals for testing and Mary Kay dosnt do that. Mary Kay can tend to be more expensive but there products last longer and tend to be better on sensitive skin.

Avon! Mary Kay is expensive and Avon has great products that really work and are not expensive. Not to mention you can shop for more than make up with Avon!

I personally preffer Mary Kay. I love how they have excellent customer cervice. I mean, you get a consultant that gets to be like a friend of yours 'cause she knows you so well. You don't have to just order from a catalogue that comes at your front door from some person on your street that you don't know. You also get a 100% gaurantee of their products, meaning, if you don't like the quality, shade, or anything else about a product, you can trade or get your money back. They'll ask you why, but all you have to tell them is what's wrong with it. And, it's no loss to the consultant because they ship it to the Mary Kay hedquarters, and get a new one in the mail (pre-paid shipping and all!) Mary Kay also has great values that they stand on : God first, family second, career third! That is a fantastic work ethic. On top of all that, Mary Kay has been the nations #1 skin care company for at least 6 years.

Ok, sorry about all the preaching for Mary Kay, but you said you wanted to know why!? I really like Mary Kay, though, because they're just all around a great company! They are there for you!

I like Avon because their cosmetics are reasonably priced then that of Mary Kay.

Avon I believe has been in business longer too, than MK as well.

Avon make-up all the way!!!! :o) Cheap and good for your face---plus they do NOT do any animal testing which makes me happy to know I'm buying a good product!

Mary Kay! Look at most of these answers. They say Avon is better "because it's cheaper." That's the point! Mary Kay is to Belk's as Avon is to K-Mart. Not that K-Mart is bad, of course! You get what you pay for! I like the answer from the girl who says she splurges on her face but skimps on clothing. You have to take care of yourself!

Mary Kay is and has been the #1 best selling brand of skincare and color cosmetics for 13 years now. I think that says it all! It's a high quality product at reasonable prices plus incredible personalized beauty service. You don't get that with Avon. Plus, it is and incredible business opportunity for women.
