United States soccer...
it's young, and growing fast, very fast. as you can see from the past few worldcups, the US has done better and better, with some years an exception. but unlike how Bruce [US coach] said how youth need to become more familiar with the european play style, i feel completely different. it's not that, it's the fact that americans, in general, tend to daze off when they need to work, or need to PRACTICE. they feel this is play, not work. and when you get a pick up game here in the states, generally youth just screw around for the fun of it. in european nations, and brazil, and argentina, youth dont screw around they work, and work hard, very hard.
so, the real problem is laziness, not style of play. and also how players work together in a team fashion.
so yes, the states needs work on team play, but in general, individual players got it going on for them, e.g. Landon Donovan

Landon Donovan was underrated, he was superb, always succeeding at his passes.
McBride was marked constantly by his opponents.
Eddie Johnson didn't play enough, I think Bruce Arena was afraid to make him play because of his inexperience. But how else can you learn?
Convey, Dempsey, Mastroiani, well all of them were great.
They showed the Italians, I don't know why the referee took the goal away. Obstruction, I've seen goalies being knocked down and the goals still counted, oh I get it, it would have meant a US victory.

We were going ford ward so well until the last year. We stopped completely. We'll have to wait until the next generation to have a competitive team.

U.S soccer team? AHAHAHAHAHA. Maybe they could pay Latin American players to play for the U.S. Then the team might be worth something.

i think they should have done better this world cup. i mean there are young but experienced players like LANDON DONOVAN and CLINT DEMPSEY on the team. (i am an oguchi fan!) i honestly thought they would atleast go through the group stage...sadly they didn't. part of it was bad luck i guess but i think they should have tried harder in the games.
GOOD LUCK IN 2010 GUYS!!!!!

alco19357, I never though of it that way. Thanks for that perspective. I agree with you 100%.
But the U.S. Women's team is doing great. So, expect them to ROCK the 2007 World Cup.
