These sort of questions are always a lot easier if you explain what *YOU* feel is important in a computer - what *I* consider "better" for my uses as a sysadmin and security geek are quite likely not anywhere near suitable if you're using it for web browsing or gaming... In addition, there's always other constraints, like "I refuse to spend over $1500", or "I need to have a FooBar on it" (cd-burner, or a certain graphics card for a game, or whatever), or "It has to be something I can get fixed in my town in the middle of nowhere"...

Both are bad. HP has poor customer service. Acer is taiwanese company and quality is very average. If you have to get one of the two, go with HP because at least you can get warranty service. But be prepare to be on hold for hours with their techsupport if your computer didn't come perfectly.

Acer is actuaully better ive heard. They are made by Texas instruments which is the first company to invent computer - ie the calculator. Our top IT guy who is the biggest compter geek, speaks very highly of acer. and they are alot cheaper in price than hp's

Go with HP, they have excellent customer support, and if your first question doesn't solve the problem, they will continue to help until the problem is resolved.
