Where is Evgeny Malkin and where will he be playing this season? Will it be the Pittsburgh Penguins, the National Hockey League team that drafted him second overall in 2004? Will he be forced to honour the one-year contract he signed only last week with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Russian Super League? Or will the supremely talented 20-year-old be held in limbo by lawsuits, countersuits and the bad blood that may come between the NHL and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation over player-transfer fees?

This much was known yesterday, less than 24 hours after Malkin took his passport and bolted Magnitogorsk's training camp in Finland: He is in North America, likely in the United States, huddling with his advisers and contemplating his next move

I think what his father may be true, how Malkin "just snapped" and his nerves got the better of him. He probably knows that signing a deal with Magnitagorsk was a big mistake.

Since Russia hasnt signed the IIHF transfer agreement yet, the ONLY way he can play in the NHL is if he is released from his current contract and gives the league a 24 hour notice where a contract will be negotiated. Otherwise, his club has a right to claim him back if he makes an appearance in the NHL.

He is probably somewhere safe, at the advise of his agents. Somewhere where they can talk and try and smooth things out.

lol. there have been rumours that he has been in Toronto. But no is for sure.

From SportsIllustrated.com:
"The foreign intrigue surrounding Evgeni Malkin grew so cloak-and-dagger yesterday that even Interpol was invoked by one of the parties. Speaking of his whereabouts, speculation has centered upon Toronto, where his agents, Pat Brisson and J.P. Barry, have an auxiliary office and where one Russian tabloid reported that a fellow resembling Malkin had been spotted."

seem. i comprehend maximum Pens followers here in Pittsburgh are bandwagoners, notwithstanding it relatively is no longer ninety 9.9%. i'm a Pens fan, and that i comprehend the Flyers from a historic attitude dominate the Pens. The Pens/Flyers opposition wasn't lots of a contest till Lemieux became into drafted. there became right into a component in the Nineteen Eighteen Eighties the place the Pens went on what i think of became right into a 38 interest winless streak in Philadelphia. and that i keep in mind whilst Keith Primeau scored ninety two:01 into extra time in the 2000 jap convention Semifinals. there are various Pens followers here in Pittsburgh that would show you how to comprehend that stuff, yet regrettably maximum can't.

I don't know where he is. I still can't believe he up and left Russia!

I will be glad to have him when he does surface.

Maybe he is staying with Mario. Where he lives is a small quiet town (I know because I too live there) and Mario gets a lot of privacy. So if he had papers to get into the US he could have gone there.

Maybe he is in USA
I think he behave very foolish as if he secret agent 007. From press it's clear that he was not forsed to sign contract with russian club. But it's a mystery why he dissapeared.

Likely going to end up in Russia. I don't see them agreeing to the transfer. My guess is he is going to be in cases like lawsuits and such right until about the preseason where either and agreement will be reached or he will end up in Russia. After all he can't play in the NHL unless he is allowed to by Russia, who will be at the Penguins games watching for him in all likelyhood.
