I am 34 week (8 months) pregnant, and I got a lot of baby stuff! But I am going to be a first time mother and I am worried that I am forgetting something that is a must have! Can you help!

Bassinett (good to put next to the bed for 3 am feedings)
Changing Table (good to change diapers on and to store all the diapers, wipes, powders, lotions, on)
Carseat (can't leave the hospital without it)
Swing (great for putting them to sleep or to use as an extra pair of arms when you need to vacuum or do dishes)
Stroller (better than holding them while you shop or go for a walk)
Clothes (so the kid is stylish) :-)

And ya know, the usual stuff: Diapers, bottles, pacifiers, blankets, ssocks, burp rags, bibs, wipes, etc.

Just go to walmart.com and go to the baby section and look over all their stuff. If you see anything you think you might be missing, you can run out and get one. Congrats on the little one!

1. Diapers
2. A GOOD diaper cream (I recommend Calmoseptine. If you can't find it, Triple Paste comes in a close second.)
3. Baby laundry detergent (Dreft or All Baby) If you can't find these or don't want to pay the premium price, All Free and Clear works well, too. My pediatrician said to stay away from Tide Free though. Even though it's "free and clear" it still often breaks kids' skin out (This is true for my two sons).
4. Baby bath towels and wash cloths
5. Plenty of onesies/tshirts
6. Bibs
7. Burp cloths
8. Light weight blankets
9. Emery board (when babies are first born, the ends of their fingernails are fused to the skin, so you really shouln't cut their nails...you run a very high risk of cutting their skin. Filing is recommended for the first month or so.
10. If you're formula feeding, buy some bottles. Don't go haywire with one brand though (same applies to formula...don't stock up on it until you realize your baby will tolerate it)
11. Infant Tylenol
12. Car seat
13. Stroller
14. Swing
15. Wipes
16. Diaper Genie (or other diaper pail of some sort)
17. Extra crib sheets

That's all I can think of for now. Newborns are relatively easy as far as they only poop, eat and cry. :D When they get a little older is when you have to buy toys, books, childproofing devices, etc.

Sorry these are out of order. My boys are 2 1/2 and 13 months, so it's been a while since I've had a newborn. I'm sitting here racking my brain trying to remember what all I had (and what I wished I'd had!)

You are looking for a list for a "newborn layette" and there are lots of them out there. I like About.com and the article on Basic Baby Needs but there's also some wonderful books and many, many other sites. Your hospital and pediatrician should also be a great help, and any living female relatives -- an aunt, a grandmother, or your mom. If you're not fortunate enough to have family available to you at this time, you can always contact the Public Health Department in your town, and ask to speak to someone there. It's great that you are eager to make sure that everyhting is ready for your new baby, but you should also remember to relax ...women have been doing this for years, and I know you're going to be a great mom! Congratulations!!

Well you need EVERYTHING it feels like. But I would just start with the basics and then go from there. Bottles, unless you plan to breastfeed, but I would still have bottles on hand in case breastfeeding doesn't go well. Blankets, DIAPERS, size newborn and size 1, formula (again in case of the breastfeeding), a crib or bassinet, wipes, baby wash, lotion, oil, powder, diaper rash cream, baby wash clothes, baby tub, baby towels, clothes, baby Tylenol, Mylicon gas drops (life saver). A breast pump helps too if you do decide to breastfeed. That should be all you need right at first, but that will soon change as the baby gets older and needs more stuff.

Lots of diapers, wipes, diaper ointment, pacifier(s), bottles (for back up), Undershirts (don't bother with newborn size because they will be too small in a week or two). A couple of blankets.

Car seat!!!!! to take the baby home from the hospital. Get it put in your car now and make sure it is properly installed.

If you buy clothes that are 6 months or larger sizes your baby will be able to wear them longer (even if they are too big at first, everything is too big at first)

Everything else is icing on the cake, so to speak.

I have an 8 week old baby so this is what i have found essential:

lots of diapers, size 1...they grow out of newborn size really fast!

lavender hair and body wash...its like a drug at bedtime! It knocks them out and soothes them to sleep! Must have!

you can never have too many recieving blankets! when they get old and dirty, use them as rags...in the mean time they are great to swaddle or use as burp cloths!

u would need some bottles, pampers, tee shirts, baby lotion, wipes, receiving blankets,if u bought a baby bed u should get a comforter bed set it comes with 3 pieces so that u could put the bedding along the inside of the so that the baby doesn't hurt he/she self while sleep, baby socks, baby soap get Johnson baby kit that's the best, hand mittens so when baby is fussy he/she don't hurt scratch the face, car seat, make sure u get wic so baby can have milk, also clothes so baby can go outside in 1 week for some fresh air and first week check up,no smoking around baby, make sure you r ready for the winter snow suite, hat, comforter

I have two things that were given to me when I had my last child......the first is called a podie...I'm not sure that i spelled that right but it was great it is a bottle that attaches to the car seat and has a small straw that attaches to the nipple almost looks like a pacifier..you will not ever have to worry about looking for a bottle while driving....the other was a container that had three spaces to hold enough formula for three bottles! Good Luck to you and God Bless You!!!!
