Crisp morning air, the amazing orange harvest moons, Firey colored leaves falling to be raked into piles and jumped in. The closing of the year and all the things that have been learned. Pumpkins and Apples sweetly scenting the air. Children trick or treating on Samhain. MMMMM can ya tell I love fall?

It makes me reminisce about the years I spent up north in the redwoods of Humboldt County in Northern California.
It reminds me of wonderful smells, such as the fall harvest of ganja, woodburning stoves firing up for the start of the rainy season, low-lying fog along the Eel River as the colors of the leaves started to transform. Other yummy smells include the roasting of turkey with all the trimmings (the olfactory sense is often most associated with memory), pumpkins, children in cute costumes, Samhain, cooler weather & jackets, corn, etc., etc.

It reminds me of the end of harvest season, when the days are filled with sunshine, and the nights are chilly. Images of multi colored leaves falling, bundles of corn stalks, bales of hay, and the fruits of harvest on the kitchen table. I remember brightly burning bon fires , and fellowship among friends. I am also reminded that this is also a spiritual season for many. The remembrance of the dead, and offerings made to them as their world opens into ours. Candles, flowers, and prayers honor those who have passed before us.

It makes me think of the sun getting lower in the sky and the deep blue it turns and leaves falling and winter coming on and the loss of loved ones over the years, a sadness or melancholy feeling comes over me when I see the pumpkins in the fields and the corn pickers running

Back home in Western Massachusetts. Driving around seeing scarecrows, bales of hay, buckets of apples, pumpkin patches, beautiful sunsets, children coming home from school & wearing of heavier clothing such as sweatshirts, sweaters etc. Also, knowing Thanksgiving & Christmas aren't far away. It is the most wonderful time of the year!!!!!
