Your father does not owe you, he owes your mother. She was the one that had to pay for everything for your care...example being a roof over your head, clothes on your back, food in your belly, medical care, the list goes on and on. So can you sue? No. He doesnt owe you, he owes your mother.

The father doesn't owe it to the child, he owes it to the mother. And in that case, the father MUST pay his child support even if the child is over the age of 18. I've heard of the government taking child support out of a man's social security checks to pay back child support. This is something that too many dead-beat parents think they can get out of once the child is of legal age, but that's not true.

Yes, if by "owes her a lot" you mean unpaid child support. It's called back child support, but really, that money belongs to the parent who financially supported the child. So I don't know if the adult child could sue for the money or if it would have to be the parent who was owed the support and didn't receive it. But I say GO FOR IT.

True story here>
My ex husband agreed to pay child support on my 2 kids when they were small and then stopped paying after 1 or 2 payments.
My son is 21 yrs old and my daughter is 18,
I started getting regular child support payments early this spring because once you agree to pay it, you owe it until it is all paid. The judge does not care whether your 3 or 30, If your dad agreed to pay a set amount for child support on you in your life time. He will owe it until the day it is paid in full or he dies. Take him to court and make him face up to his responsiblity.

Nope. Legally you are considered and adult who is capable of taking care of herself. If you were totally disabled it would be an entirely different story(at least morally), but as a healthy and young adult you are expected to take care of yourself. You cannot file any lawsuit to get money from him. If he owes you a lot, then depending on how this debt came about can you file a civil lawsuit in a court, up to 5.000 dollars in small claims court. If he still owes childsupport: that is due your mother who raised you, but not you--again, no legal grounds for a lawsuit---you are basically on your own...Good Luck
