I am worried about my 1 month old. Up until today she has pooped only once a day. She had to work hard for it too, but there is always lots and it is always smooth so I didn't worry. However, today she had pooped 7 times in the last 10 hours. The poop is yellow, there isn't much there, a teaspoon maybe, and it is kinda slimy and flaky at the same time. Is this diarrea? Should I take her to the doc? She is formula fed and has continued to eat normally. Should I give her water too?
Help....my first baby and I have no mother to call!

If you're feeding her iron fortified forumula, the poop will turn yellow. Her going 7 times in one day is excessive but nothing to worry about, yet. If she continues to do this through the day and into tomorrow, I'd call her doctor. Some babies don't start a regular stool (poop) until a few weeks after birth. As long as she seems happy and is still eating, I'd take that as a good sign.
Even still, if you're concerned, you should consult your physican or even a clinic if you don't have a doctor. Their advice would be the best advice!
Good luck.

Yes, call the pediatrician and bring her in, or take her to the emergency room. As a baby she can dehydrate quickly. Dilute her formula with water. Or give her some (clean!!!) water. Does she have a fever? Does her tummy hurt? Is she cramping or tender? How is her skin? How does she smell? All this will make a diagnosis. She may have a tummy bug.
Keep her hydrated is number one priority!

Sounds OK to me. Before it's said and done, you'll see a rainbow of colors and textures in your baby's diaper. :) When it gets REALLY fun is when she starts eating "real" food. (Raisins, corn, carrots, etc.) LOL
Her digestive system is changing/maturing almost daily, it seems. My two boys were both like this. One day they were pooping two or three HUGE poops a day and it was yellow and seedy...the next day it was one or two small ones and it was darker. This is especially true if you switch formulas.
Diarrhea completely soaks into the diaper...there is no solid. (It also has the lovely trademark of leaking through the leg holes of the diaper sometimes.)
Is she OK otherwise? (Any fever, vomiting, extreme fussiness, refusing to eat, coughing...basically anything out of the ordinary for her?) If so, it's best to put in a call to her doctor.

Yes, this is diarrhea. Did you feed her something new? That could be one cause. It could also be rotovirus. In a baby that young, you should just call the doctor.
As a side note - make sure you are changing her diaper EVERY time she goes to prevent diaper rash.

I would definitely call your doctor-on-call. It does sound like diarrhea, but with a one-month-old you can never be too careful. Good luck!
