For a full-time student, I would reccomend a 3-subject spiral notebook (big or small ruled) for EACH 3-credit class. It just works.

I usually get a 5 star 5 subject notebook, they will last through the semester unlike some of the cheaper notebooks. I know they are like $5 but they really are more durable and will last you longer. I just have a section for each of my classes and if i need another i just buy a single subject notebook. this will generally be enough to get you through a semester of college. then you can keep the notebook and look back on notes you took as a refresher for other classes you take later

I've always been a fan of the lose leaf. Then I put them in a folder. They are much easier to write on, plus they can be rearranged. Also, you always have exactly the amount of space you need. You can get a folder for like $0.30. Then you get a different color for each class. I put the blank paper in the back on the left side. Then I just pull it from the back. That way I always know where it is and I don't have to worry about covering it up.

You will need loose leaf paper for pretty much every class you take. I'd get a big binder, with subject dividers and stocked full of loose leaf colleged ruled paper.
