Hate is used as a shield by ignorant people that cannot or will not accept change or criticism. It has terrible meaning and should not be so freely used.

Is Hate the right word?
Most people don't really know what real hate is, I think maybe what you are calling hate is strong dislike brought on by sheer ignorance about the subject they are commenting on, either that or they are just winding people up to satisfy their childish wish to be noticed.

I've read more than just a handful of e-mails expressing hate written by women. I get the feeling they are going down the hate road....
At least it seems to be gender neutral.

Hate is good for the soul particularly when it is directed at people and groups in the UK and elsewhere who justifiably deserve it. That sure is a lot of people nowadays due to the Labour Party's open door immigration policy.

Hate is what the people in a town called Ballymena get when they put coal on the fire and they do enjoy it on a cold winters night !

I don't enjoy hate. I do often feel it though, but I try to hide or contain it, so it usually comes out in my dreams.
I'm not sure why people seem to glory in it, maybe they can get addicted to the hate hormones? It saves them thinking? Makes them feel powerful? Makes them feel superior to others?
I do think it is counter-productive.
I think it is contagious. Maybe we could get immunised when we were babies.
