I am back at my parents house and I was in the basement and way in the back in the dark, I found my dresser. It was handed down from my Aunt to me. It was made in the 1950's but looks damn good still.

Keep it! Use it! Enjoy it! I think everyone should have something from their childhood to be passed along to their children. I have a hope chest that was my mother's at the bottome of my bed and a tea set I used as a little girl in my kitchen. I don't have daughters, but I have saved a few of my son's favorite things. As time goes on I think they mean more and more to us. My youngest son had a stuffed bunny named "Flop-flop". He's missing a leg and an eye, but once in a while I show it to him and it makes him smile. Refinish it or paint it (or not) and find a special place for it in your home.

No, but there is this old fan we have that was made by Robbins & Myers in the
1910's. It has solid brass 16'' blades (polished to a mirror-like luster), fancy S-wire guard, 2'' diameter brass badge and a cast-iron high-gloss finish body (black)with solid gold pinstriping(also made with other uncommon metals such as bronze). It is in excellent working condition and looks beautiful! The neatest thing about it is that, not only did it oscillate, but there was an ingenious mechanism on it that allowed it to oscillate any where from 0 to 180 degrees- or anywhere in between! It also has three speeds. Why can't they make anything like that today? The thing cost us $150.00- not bad!
If you saw it, it would be love at first sight!

I thought I was the only one who keep furniture from my childhood. Know that I have a daughter I want to keep more like I still have baby cloths that I want to keep for her to give to hr daughter.

Yes. I have a small rocking chair that I've had since I can't remember, and that I've had to take to the antique shop to be fixed.. (It's been through 3 moves out of state), and I have a lamp and a musical "box" - both of which my mother made for me in her ceramics class. Don't remember ever being without them either..

My parents bought me this sturdy, ornate white desk for me when I was a kid to use as a study desk. I'm married, have my own house and I still have this desk. It's a little battered, but like I said, it's sturdy and has these wonderfully deep drawers that I keep all my keepsakes and things in! :)

Yes, I have my school desk & a wooden toy box that looks like a circus cage with animals painted on it. These are from the 1960's.

I still use my childhood dresser every day, as have my ancestors since 1760 or so. It just wouldn't be "home" without it.

yep. i've got the dresser my parents had that they gave to me when i was around 12.
i also have a rocking chair that has been passed down to me. my great-grandfather made it for my grandma who gave it to my dad who in turn gave it to me. the tradition is that it goes to the youngest child so i will pass it on to my son when he has kids. (the rocker is child-size.)
