Do you support the Patriot act, and the similar laws soon to follow?
Do you think it is OK for the government to read anybody's email, check anybody's babk account, or search whomever in public spaces. Do you agree that the government should be able to stop arabs and persians (and by circumstance, mexicans, blacks, and asians) because terroist come from the same part of the globe as them?
Well beware. By not voting out conservatives (and centrist) you may think you are giving the government permission to do these things to foreigners and "others," but you never know when someday it is your group (it doesn't have to be racial, you could be investigated because of where you work, or someone you've talked to) that becomes the enemy of the state. Do we really wish to grant the government that much power? The government already has authority to spy on terrorist, these new laws are to give the government authority to spy on you!

I know the gov't is already spying on us. But without permission. That is another battle. Im speaking to those people who wish to just hand over that permission.

I love you what a good point . when freedom is taken away from anyone eventually it gets taken from everyone. Just as when we dont do everything to guarantee someones freedom our freedom isnt as guaranteed. The government spies on our minds our thoughts now. It tries to manipulate and control the environment. Its even responsiblbe for a lot of the rascism in prisons. People have to fight as individuals. I use to keep a tribute to Rosa Parks on my refrigerator to read before I went to work to keep from getting discouraged. It was a reminder to what an individual can do (for those who dont know shes the lady who had the courage to not go to the back of the bus one day, and that took a helluva a lot of guts for a black woman alone in the south to do- and started the civil rights movement.) We need to remember people like her in this day and age to motivate us to show the courage we will need if our country is to continue and continue as a genuine democracy not just a pawn in a world government. Peace all

I hate the Patriot Act and it is unnecessary!! It takes away liberties I don't believe the Congress can take away, and therefore Unconstitutional! We aren't at war!
I f we take a few hits from terrorist, so be it! I am not willing to give up my rights to the government, especially, as you have seen, Bush decided that he isn't even going to go by that!
If I have to give up my life to stay free, I will have done nothing more than millions before me! I don't care what the terrorist do, we aren't going to stop all of it! But they will take all of your freedoms from you!
Give Bush an inch and he'll take a Trillion!
How many are you willing to stop driving when you know that over 10 times the number were killed in car accidents than were killed in the WTC!
In fact, why don't you stop eating as well???
Leading Causes of Unintentional Injury Deaths United States, 2003
Motor Vehicle 44,800
Falls 16,200
Poisoning 13,900
Choking 4,300

I don't think too many of us are willingly giving up our freedom. It's being stolen from us, one step at a time by the wicked Illuminati. Wake up people, and see what's really going on, before it's too late. Just one more terrorist attack on U.S. soil, and we'll be living in a fascist police state. I can see it coming.

Frankly I wish I had a life interesting enough for anyone to be interested in it, it the government wants to read about what to buy for dinner tonight from my emails then so be it, it doesn't actually matter, does it take away my freedom? nope
if i was planning criminal act then i hope the government reads it and stops the act. freedom isnt about doing what you want when you want in total secrescy, freedom is about living in a society where you can ex[pect not to be bombed or shot or kidnaped
by reading my email teh governement protects my freedom

What do you have to hide?!
I could care less if the gov. reads my rediculous emails, or listens in on my pretty much boring tele. conversations!
Unless you are doing something illegal.. Why do you really care if they can read your email, or listen in on your tele convesations!
They are looking for suspicious activity, & already have a list of people of interest to tap in on... Unless you are plotting something illegal or suspicious with a person of interest....like a bombing, or terrorattack, or to highjack a plane or some type of suspicious activity...
I doubt you have anything to worry about!
Just live your life like every other one of us normal Americans...

We are all being manipulated into giving up our freedoms; we are all going to be subjected to a constant barrage of alleged terrorist conspiracies from here on in. The terrorists have won unless we can vote ourselves brave leaders rather than foolish cowards who play into their hands.

If I had something to hide, it sure would bother me!
We are at war with terrorists. They don't deserve to be protected by any of our freedoms. If some of mine has to be affected to save lives - I'm in.
It's a shame that "groups" of people become targets of profiling, but is there not reason for such behavior? If it were Polish people dressed in their traditional garb terrorizing the world would we not tend to "profile" them? Hello!

Good question. I'm in the UK, and, unfortunately we seem to be following your lead.
Here are two quotes, which I'll try to get right:
"Desperate times lead to bad laws"
"Too much of a remedy is actually a poison"
