I know!! When I see girls my age and sometimes even younger that are smoking, I don't think 'that's cool' I think 'pathetic'.
Why pay lots of money to kill yourself slowly and painfully?

I'm not sure I thought it was cool when I did it. I grew up around all my family sitting around the kitchen table smoking, so of course when I moved out I smoked too.
For years, about 15, then I quit. It was such an addiction, my body just craved it big time. Have you ever been addicted to anything, like sugar, bread, anything?It's the same. It controlled me, I didn't control it. And as bad as it was, I still want one occasionally.

The only people who think smoking is "cool" are the 13 year olds...most people just smoke as a stress reliever or when they're bored...I think it's mostly a habit you pick up as a teen or young adult.

That is very true, people generally are willing to sacrifice long term affects for current (now) pleasures. Some people may have an oral fixation issue or the nicotine, from the smoke gives them a buzz. Alcohol is the same, people consume it to get a buzz or get drunk, yet they're risking not only their liver, but their heart, kidneys and brain

I don't think smoking is cool. Maybe way back when, 15 years ago when I was a teenager it was cool, but now it's just a bad habit.

It sure does. I was a smoker for 13 yrs. I have not smoked now for 8 yrs. It made me sick.

No, it kills ME. My choice, not yours. If you don't like smoking, don't. Last time I looked this was America, the land of the free. Mind your own business and leave my legal rights alone...

It's that stupid thing that some people go through where they want to feel like a rebel, which usually involves doing something moronic, illegal, or bad for your health. DUMB!

I agree.
It stinks and is a huge waste of money.
But it is a very social habit right now with certain groups
