I've recorded some children's programs on the Disney Channel and noticed some issues (slight blurriness here & there, especially where there is quick movement) and wondered if anyone else was seeing this as well?

well, lucky for you, your problem should be quite easy to fix. when you go to record a program, go to options (it should be a secondary oval that you can highlight to the left of record.) I'm not quite sure what the tab is you click okay on, but look around and you'll find it. then you'll want to change recording options, set the record quality up. yours might be on basic, or medium. set to high, or best. just be warned. this will lower the ammount of space faster than a lower quality recording. you can also access this setting thru season pass, and scheduled programs. good luck. sorry. i'm not too detailed. but i might also check tivo.com if this didn't help.

Jules:

I've noticed some of what you mention on my TiVo as well. The picture quality can be set on individual recordings if you would like a higher-quality picture, but when you increase the picture quality you decrease the number of hours the TiVo is able to store. I find that the high quality setting is good for most sources, but best quality should eliminate most of the problems you're mentioning.

If your unit is a satellite (DirecTV) unit, it records the bitstream exactly as the receiver receives it and there is no effect on quality. A stand-alone TiVo that receives analog signals from a tuner or cable system must first digitize them before recording, and these units have different quality modes which offer differing recording times. In these units, there is often a loss of sharpness in the picture that is recorded, and the longest recording time has very poor picture quality.

There shouldn't be any such problems. I have two dvrs, one of them Tivo - and never had these problems. You must have an equipment problem...
