I was told it is against the law to speak it amongst other employees but we can translate for costumers. I just feel discriminated! But maybe I'm wrong!

There is NO law that requires you to speak certain languages or NOT to speak certain languages. It used to be considered IMPOLITE to speak a language other than the one of the land if other people are present. But now-a-days, I don't think it matter much anymore. There is a HUGE difference between being impolite and illegal.

there's no law that dictates that Spanish speaking is against the law. just as there's no law mandating one to interpret what's being said for the customers. This is just good business practice. Sexual harrrassment and sexual discriminations are illegal.

as long as you and the other employee understand the language - I fail to see how that's against the law .... I have worked for lots of companies and haven't ever heard of that law!

You have the constitutional right in America to speak Mandarin Chinese if you can handle it.

But, if using a foreign language is causing unsatisfactory job performance, your employer has a legitimate beef, and could let you go if you can't or won't reasonably fulfill the job requirements.
