I was at a baby shower on sunday and this is what they did for the guests. They had about 6 different games and draws where you could win prizes instead of giving every guest something and everyone was happy with that. It made for better stuff as there was 6 things bought instead of 30 and the games made the shower more fun. For example, in one game everyone was given 2 cards and they had a matching set, there was 3 prizes and when your card was drawn you could pick which of the prizes you wanted...so you could steal a prize from the person who previously had it until all the cards were drawn. Or have everyone bring in a baby picture of themselves and put them on a board. The person who can match the most pictures to the right person wins a prize. Either way, don't forget thank you cards after the event. Have fun

If you are the one throwing the shower, then I think your gift should be the most extravagent. How about this idea: Take a baby bathtub and fill it with little (cheap) gifts. Here's what you would need:

Pretty cute idea, I think. That way mom can use everything including the packaging :) (By the way, the total for all that stuff was around $50 so I think that's pretty cool)

A little group of cookies wrapped in tulle the color of the gender (blue or pink... or both!) Classy gourmet cookies are always good, but you could use cute shaped sugar cookies, too.
Most women have more candles, pins, knick-knacks and soaps than they want! Give them something they can eat and enjoy.
