Tell them as soon as you believe they can understand that you will sometimes lie to them and sometimes tell them the truth but they will probably never fully know whats what but that you will always love them. Doesnt that sound like something you would have liked to hear when you were a kid instead of having to figure it out yourself the hard way. By telling them you will lie and tell the truth you are really letting them know they cant trust you. But when they realize this they will understand that there is no reason not to trust you. This might open communication lines for your child ect ect...

I don't think that will help at all. I don't really lie to my kids but I keep certain truths from them because they are not fully capable of understanding everything around situation or being a parent. You don't really get why your parents were they were until you become one yourself. You must not have any kids. Why would you let them think that they can't trust your own parents, why would you start them thinking that every one lies and that you lie to them. You would have very miss trusting kids and they them selves would have no reason to tell the truth. Maybe this is something you should research or read up on before you decide to tell your kids that you lie to them etc

That's insane. Locking down with your kids that they never know when you are telling them the truth and when you are lying will destroy any sense of stability they have at home. Of course, they will also use it against you, and will assume you are lying about anything they don't want to hear from you and that you are telling the truth only when they do want to hear it. When your kids are old enough to figure it out on their own they will also be mature enough to understand why you did what you have.
