That's a tough one. You'd probably have to find a local newspaper (or perhaps the New York Times) from Christmas Day of that year (or perhaps the day after). I'm sure there are university libraries that have such things (at least the Times), probably on microfiche.

The only thing I can make a fair guess about right now is that, if there was snow, it wasn't too heavy for people to get about. I say that because the artist Joseph Cornell was born that evening in nearby South Nyack, at home, with a doctor attending... that is, the doctor was able to make it to their house.
