Yeah, I notice there are a lot of Southern folks answering...something about those words that just pull a visceral reaction out of the south, whereas the rest of us would really like to get on with the 21st century and not wax poetic about the 19th, and most out west really don't get what all the fuss is about anyway..

I'm a Yankee, and a YANK (what ALL english speaking foreigners call ALL Americans)--nearly 400 years on both parents' sides. I've been to 48 states, and lived in five states on both sides of the Mason Dixon. I'm glad the North won, but I really wish the South would join the rest of us in celebrating the great nation that we are today, whatever hardships we've had to endure as a people to get here.

And apparently Felix didn't get from the Declaration and the Constitution that we're through with all that bowing crap...leave that to the feudalist europeans...

I am an American. I live in the south but I am not a rebel. I am an American, so I guess that makes me a yank.

I'm from the North and proud of it! You know, though, I don't think anyone up here really thinks of ourselves as 'yankees.' Odd.
