It is called a window regulator and most of them have plastic parts that break easily. I had the same thing happen to my Nissan and they replaced driver and passenger window regulators.

I had this problem before. The window is is run by the motor with a cable. Something like a motorized pulley. With only the sound of the motor heard, most probably the cable has snap. If it has been fixed only recently, be sure to find the shop for rectification... :)

Most windows are held to the mechanism with plastic pieces. One or both have broken. You will have to remove the door panel to get to it. Dealer should have the parts you need.
If it was the cable or whatever raises and lowers it that broke, the window would not be crooked. It would have simply dropped.

These vans from 1996 to current at least are power operated by a cable pulley system. Most likely, that a plastic guide had wore out, thus doing what its doing. You can try to do it yourself(cheapest way), or can get a pro to do it, if your nervous about breaking the glass and such.

The part can be located Here http://www.partstrain.com/products/ShopBody/Window_Regulator/2002~DODGE~GRAND_CARAVAN~6~3.3~GRAN-SE-007.html
The install is a little more difficult. For a profesional it will take about an hour to replace.

dont be afraid to get your hands dirty. its much easier to fix than it seems, just sloly and carefully take your door apart. then see ir your window simply somehow slipped off the track (in which you can easily slip it back in) or if you have some broken pieces in which you need to replace.

it may have gone off the track. try to maneuver it manually to set it back on track. then keep trying the window button to help it along or have someone help you. may take a few times but work w/ it.

broken window track and its common, pull it up with your hands, get some clear tape, not duct tape, tape it up and go say hi to your mechanic
