Seems to me most members of this site are lazy.

They want to ask questions, so they make very short comments.

I joined yesterday, and I have not gotten a good answer yet.

How do I deal with the fact that I actually want an answer that is satisfying and I can apply to my life?

I mean that in a way that I can apply it to my life, not just live my life, and realize that what they are answering to me is common sense to anybody with half a brain.

You are in the GEE WHIZ stage. That's where I was at 2 months ago when I signed up. Now I'm in the "Ahhh sc**w it" stage.

This is a fad. Just like everything else. People tire of things easily. And they get more complacent in their answers (and so do the askers). Don't take it personally. It's just boredom setting for everyone.

I still try to give helpful answers to questions I think are honest and serious. But I've been slapped in the head too many times. People ask a question, and then (way too many times) they don't even come back to select a best answer or even thank the responders. The ones that actually select a best answer often times admit they were looking for a specific answer. So there I was. Feeling like a dope for taking all that time to give an answer, and I was being used all the time. If you go to my profile, I answered a question about if it is safe to straighten a bent lawn mower shaft. The asker openly admits he was looking for one specific answer (which wasn't mine).

So now, I mostly give flippant answers. I really don't care. This is just a way to kill time. If I run across a question I think is good, I'll take a little time to answer (like your question).

If you don't believe me, take a look at my profile. Just click on my name, and look at the questions I asked (I'm REALLY pleased with the response I got about the cost of a house in England.), and the answers I've given.

Don't get discouraged. This is like life. You get kicked in the teeth a lot. But you just have to get back up and keep going. The day you give up, you're in BIG trouble.

Enjoy the journey!

Well I'm not sure if it's going to be long but it's going to apply to you as well as everybody else's life. It's something that I learned when I was younger and I found out that it was true what my teacher has told me later on in my life. My teacher told me that nobody was perfect and nothing is forever.
Nothing is perfect because that's the way life is. Even though some people, like kids, think that their friend or someone that they know seems perfect therefore they are, but really they're not because inside there could be secrets, things that strangers and even their own friends don't know about them. Also, imperfectness is why people get sick and die (for some people).
Nothing lasts forever either. Take objects for example, they don't last forever because sooner of later they either break or something happens to them. Think about relationships, many of them don't last because nothing lasts forever.
That's all I can think right now lol but I hope this satisfies you.

You have to be patient. Really good answers come rarely. There are just too many kids here who want to have a good time by riling people up with provocative, silly answers. However, if you categorize your questions carefully and ask them just right, you can filter out some of the garbage. Try to have fun with it, though. Take it too seriously and you will get bored in a hurry. You might find a good forum more to your liking where there are more people like you interested in serious stuff.

'nuff said?

Hi,
A well thought out question may just get the answer you are looking for. However, may of the responders do not care. If you are willing to put out the well thought answer, and are prepared to weed through the ridiculous few, you might be surprised at how many well thought out answers may just come your way.

:)

Think of a really long well thought-out thought first.
