given the number of hours people are putting in at their jobs, does that increase the likelihood of office romances to be even more common?

People who engage in office affairs would cheat somewhere somehow reagardless. They're weak or uncomitted to their spouse or SOs. Billions of people punch a clock every day and manage not to get nailed in the supply closet. Screwing someone you're around 40 hours a week and forced to make small talk with is just easier than going out and putting yourself into a singles scene. The excuse that people who work don't have time to find romance anywhere else is just wrong. It takes less than an hour to pick someone up at a bar or club. People who think they're helpless against an office romance are really pityable and they make the workplace uncomfortable for people just doing their jobs.

You are correct, they always happen. In every office there is always some people who hook up. Regardless of whether it is short or long term, some even result in mariage. Some people even have what is considered a "better half" at work; which is just treated separate from thier real spouse, but on the same level of intimacy.

I do not really like answering questions such as these, but what the heck, I am on a roll so I will try my luck again.

The problem with an office environment is that men and women come into contact with one another and opposites do attract.

No, I do not suppose that it is inevitable but inevitably humans will be human and humans do like to do what is humanly possible.

Is your company hiring, because if that's you I'm about to polish my....resume.

Anyway, I've done this once. It was awesome, it was great. But when all is said and done, you go your separate ways, and barely hear from one another again.

If that's your style then go for it. But if not, be careful. You'll probably miss them because you'll remember that there really wasn't any bull$hit to deal with and that's why you remember it so well. Just 2 co-workers / friends, having fun all the time every way imaginable. Then the candle goes out.

Good luck.

Maybe not inevitable, but very likely. When you work so closely with a person, some type of feelings are bound to pop up. You may not act on it, but the feeling will be there. If you do act on it then have fun. :o)

They can be, however it is never a great idea. You must think of your co-workers and what is more important.
This can be really hard when you socialise and have a few drinks but at the end of the day you must consider the consequences if things turn sour.

Well, I think it depends how attractive the person is. I'm currently reading Digital Fortress and it was saying how beautiful Claire (wife of David) was and how every co-worker checks her out and try looking beneath her skirt and what not. People try locking her in by themselves and you know what not. I think the they're likely for a raise in salary though. :) It really depends on the person.. if his sexual desires are not satisfied, he'll go do it.

Yes. It happens all the time. The married boss and the secretary... you know. If not, some people just don't go anywhere else to meet somebody and therefore they stay single.
