I am dieting and am trying to keep on the lower end of the scale in terms of calories, fat, and carbs and get at least 25 grams of fiber like they recommend. I am having trouble getting enough fiber. What is the best way to add fiber to my diet through food products (not supplements).?

Generally fibres can be found in this few type of food.

Whole-grain foods (such as bran cereals) and breads (those made with whole wheat grains).

Fresh fruits (including the skin and pulp). apples, raisins, raspberries, strawberries.

Dried or stewed fruits (such as prunes, raisins, or apricots).

Root vegetables (such as carrots, turnips, or potatoes).

Raw or fresh vegetables, such as peas, potato, brocolli . (Lettuce is actually low in fiber.)

But there is two type of food category that have highest fibre content.
1)Wheats or brans based food like Oats and etc.
2)Beans like baked beans, kidney beans and etc.

All kinds of veggies will work well. They do not have a lot of calories but lots of fibers and other benefits (Vitamins, minerals and other stuff)
You can chew on raw carrotts or steam up some mixed veggies (with a tiny bit of fat, that also helps to make some vitamins accessible which only are soluble in fat, besides fat binds to some receptors in yoru intestines and signals the brain "full" and makes you feel full). Spice well to make it taste nice.

Tomatoes have lots of fibers, you could chomp a few of those down, chose yummy fresh ones, salt and pepper on them, yum. Little calories only.

Lettuces. Just be watchful with the dressing. I recommend you mix that yourself, some drops of lemon oil a few drops of olive oil, spices. Lots of herbs.

And sure - you can go to the drugstore and buy "Fibers". Those were extracted from various plants and they taste like nothing. you sprinkle them in and on your food. I personally would not use them because they are a result of food processing.

In general - if you diet alows you to eat bread or pasta then you should always chose real "whole grain". But not the stuff you get in the supermarket. Try to get in some wholefoods store or organic market bakery. Their whole grain bread is completely different. It has a lot of natural fibers.
Same for whole grain pasta.

And depending what your diet allows or not. If you eat grains instead of the stuff from the supermarket get some real grain from the whole foods market (whole wheat berries or oat berries for example), grind some in a coffeegrinder and soak them overnight in water. Eat for breakfast with fruit. Those grains have tons of fibers and fill you well. But they also have calories, you need to count like for bread or breakfast flakes.

Finally - fruit like oranges, apples, plums have lots of fibers and are very healthy. Hwoever they also have sugar, so they have a few more calories than veggies.

I wish you the best succes!

its very hard to really get enough fiber thru diet alone - you would be eating all the time.

I would REALLY recommend psyllium capsuls, they dont taste bad like the powder and you can add grams easily.

Good luck!
