The bullseye of a dartboard should be 5' 8" above the floor.

The toe line should be 7' 9" from the FACE of the dartboard.

Alternate toe line can be 8' from the FACE of the dartboard.

Remember that a dartboard can be of different sizes, so the bottom of the board is not a reliable marker for height. Similarly, a board could be an inch thick or several inches thick, so you measure from the face of the board, not the wall.

This is ultra-picky - but this was the tournament standard when I was playing. If you only do casual games, you can certainly fluff a little bit.

I once tried it 50 feet away. I found that very few darts made it to the board and the floors ended up looking pitted by darts falling short
