If you are keeping a log of everything you buy for your wife, and deciding whether she is "deserving" or not, you're in real trouble. And if your wife asks for expensive gifts, whether or not you can afford it, she is being unreasonable.

Gifts should be given with no strings attached. If someone asks for a gift, it isn't a gift anymore.

Who was the oven for, you or her? Does she cook in the oven, your meals? Either strap the oven on to her back so she knows the time, or don't buy her a watch and see what time you get dinner. VBG

Only you can decide what your wife deserves. The rest of us here have no idea how hard she works and what she does at home.
If you think she deserves the watch, get it.

if you have the money and if she is a good wife and you truly love her why not . There doesn't have to be a special occasion to buy your loved one something she wants.

"Deserve"? I feel badly for your wife. You seem to be treating her like your child or your pet instead of your spouse.

How about YOU decide, instead of blaming your unwillingness to purchase it on her.

the oven was to benefit both of you...it is like buying her a chainsaw for her birthday...
if you have the money for the watch, get it for her...the oven does NOT count as something personal...you like to eat, she likes to feed you

I'm torn here on your question. . . on one hand I wonder if your wife is a materialistic, greedy wench. On the other hand. . .I wonder if you are a cheap SOB? All in all i guess I really don't care so . . good luck!

What's this "deserve" garbage? Do you have a wife or a pet? Let her buy it herself if she wants it and you don't feel like giving it to her.
