If you downloaded and installed mIRC, then using windows add/remove programs should work just fine. However, if you didnt download and install mIRC on purpose, but are having it show up then odds you have managed to get one of the trojans that drop a tweaked old version of mIRC as part of their payload. It is VERY important that you completely remove all the files included in the trojan from your puter. In some cases you may have to manually do some editing to ensure this.

- Read http://www.mirc.co.uk/help/virus.html where you will find info and resources to help you. Be sure to follow the advice there about researching whatever is found on your puter to ensure complete removal.

-run a couple of good, currently updated virus scanners. There some free online ones that can be better at detecting IRC related virus/trojans. http://housecall.trendmicro.com is one. A listing of some good resources can be found in this forum thread

While there are many threads here on this problem, (you can find them using our search feature, setting it to All Forums, and expand the date range) the mIRC.com link is comprehensive.

Let me know if this helped..
good luck
