about office romances?

The company should not care. But since most people want to act like Muppets when it comes to office romance I see why companies more, and more stick their noses into it. I think it all depend on the work environment, and how the individuals involved handle it. If they work in separate parts of the building and instead of doing their assignments they spend all day trying to sneak time and hook up in the stair wells and such, then the company has to be concerned. Same way with sexual harassment laws. I think THAT is one of the biggest wet blankets on office romancing more than the lost of productivity. What if she wants to break it and he doesn't" what if he is caught cheating? With what is actually sexual harassment being so vague, it is a mine fiend most businesses keep out of all together. But if the love birds can keep professional on the job, at work, it can be beneficial. Because they will work good and be more in tuned with each other and less apt to argue and fight, and run petty games. The trouble is, most cannot divide work and romance when the person they are romancing is at the same place.

I think there should be a no dating policy, from what I've seen office romance can sometimes lead to a lot of Drama in the work place. This drama can effect the work and the people around them. Also there are relationship that do not work out, some of these people are not mature enough and cant accept being dumped so this hurts the person job wise.

Yes. Although I have never worked in the traditional office environment, I have seen instances where romance between office workers leads to favoritism where it's hurt my friends ability to be promoted. If people didn't use sex in a destructive manner than I would say the company should keep out of peoples business but unfortunately office romances usually cause disruption and bad feelings between coworkers.

if the company and the individuals are mature enough why not. though you may not want them in the same department for the same reason you may not want family members working together from a security policy perspective. two people working together can potentially defeat many accounting control and other security systems at a company.

Depends. If they are the same rank and it does not interfer with their job, no. If it is management, yes, it matters a great deal. Management is usually not even allowed to eat in the same room with underlings, let alone date them. It causes moral problems.
