The formula for perimeter is 2L+2w
For this particular case: 2L+2w=28
It is said that L = 2w-1
By substitution, 2(2w-1)+2w=28
4w-2+2w=28
6w-2=28
6w=30

w=5

L=2w-1
Substitution: L=2(5)-1
L=10-1

L=9

The rectangle has a length of 9 inches and a width of 5 inches.

Perimeter= 2l + 2w = 28
l=2*w-1
2(2*w-1)+2*w = 28
4*w -2 + 2*w = 28
6 * w -2 = 28
6 * w = 30
w = 5
width = 5 length = 9

w=10 and l=4

P=28
L=2W-1
2L+2W=28 (P)
Use Substition Method:
2(2W-1)+2W=28
6W-2=28
6W=26
W=26/6=13/3
W=13/3

2006-08-15 12:59:51 · answer #5 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

P = 2(l + w)
l = 2w - 1

28 = 2((2w - 1) + w)
14 = 2w - 1 + w
14 = 3w - 1
3w = 15
w = 5

l = 2(5) - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9

ANS : 5 inches

2(w+2w-1)=28
w+2w-1=14
3w-1=14
3w=15
w (width)=5 inches

I have rated the correct ones if you look soon.
W=5
L=9
Either of the correct ones are well laid out.

In my view maegical for best answer as there are no unknown steps.
