Check the other leg for any bells you might have round it and tell him he can pull that one too.
You can also remind him that there are eagle owls, sea lions, king crabs (but no queen crabs), marmalade cats you can't spread on toast and that there really is such a thing as a lion crossed with a tiger ... it's called a Liger

All the best to you and your dad!

well if you can use the Internet I suggest you type in some of the names he gave you. You'll see he is still a little kid in side because he believes such non such. There is no such thing as a bull frog catfish, a dogfish is just a type of fish, it was not matted with a dog, because dogs breath air, and fish breath in the water so how could they mate. a spider monkey is a type of monkey, have you ever seen the difference in size of the spider or the monkey impossible to mate, one is so large compared to another its impossible. a ginepig is of the pig family and the Guinea is a form of money. There is no such thing as a tortishellcat. Whales are mammals that live in water, but they live all over the oceans. and wales is a country and no not all whales come from there. tiger-prawns are a type of shrimp. they just look like the shrimp has stripes on them. Don't believe everything you hear and only 1/2 of what you see. If someone tells you something and you feel its not correct or right, don't believe them. Don't argue with them, just say prove it. If they can't prove it, then its not true. Good luck in navigating peoples lies.

Horses can breed with a Donkey to make a mule but a mule can't breed.
I am sure there are other examples but there is not a lot of difference between a Donkey and a Horse.
The ones your dad says he is making up.
I would just agree with him as soon as you don't challenge him he will get bored and stop.
We got rid of Guinea's in 1971 so your dad must be pretty old if he remembers old money.
You could ask him what it was like in the 1960's since he remembers old money.
Dad's do act like a big kid sometimes.

Sounds like the stories my mum used to tell me - for example until recently I still believed that mountain goats can only go round a mountain one way because they have legs shorter on one side than the other!

Technicslly no, different species anyway.
there have been some famous hybrids, lion and tiger, etc, but on the whole the genetic footprint of the animals has to be very similar for sussessful mating to occur.mind you , my dad told me he saw a hog crossed with a stick insect, he said it was a pigs trunchen

No.
Your dad is just being mean.
My boyfriend's dad made him believe that you can catch warts from eggs, and that when you cook you have to stir everything the same way or you will un-mix it again.
Just ignore him and maybe he'll stop!

yes and no, you can mate some different animals but they have to have the same number of chromosomes in their dna, example a donkey and a horse to create a mule, but honestly thats the only example I can think of right now, the ones you mention are cute I think perfect for a nine year old.
