Someone mentioned it at work and there has to be more to it. Was it at a restaraunt?

It was a story on Dateline NBC about restaurant employees handling ice for drink with their bare hand.

One of the newsmagazine shows did a piece a couple weeks ago that tested ice from various establishment, and that were served via different techniques.

They found some disgusting bacteria/germs that can live on ice. They say that if the server hasn't washed their hands properly, it can get on there.

They tested ice from several different machines and found that the toilet wter had less bacteria than the ice did.
Makes me rethink the ice in drinks thing.
