It depends on where you are at. Some have great package deals if you also purchase your internet and Cable service through them. Look for these offers if you use these services.

As for just phone I have heard Vonage is good. We use Quest because we have a package deal. Watch closely for those "too good to be true" deals like ACN. The package looks good on paper but they don't fully explain all the details. For instance they say they do not charge taxes so you save there but what they don't tell you is the local cities still do no matter who you go through! And they are "FREE" to try out but fail to mention your previous provider will charge if you want to change back. So your stuck with them!

We pay $18 per month for our landline. No long distance (cellphone provided), no call waiting, call forwarding or caller i.d. It's with SBC/ATT. Just ask for the basic phone service, no perks and NO monthly fees for long distance.

Bellsouth GREAT bundles. will be merging with at&t next year. If you are talking about cellular, Sprint has the best features for the best price all around, and their network has improved dramatically.

I'm using broadvoice. It's like vonage, only cheaper. You need a broadband connection, and some new equipment.
