i plan on buying a racing game off of ebay from the UK, but i live in the US and i have a US ps2. Will the UK version of the game i buy be compatible and fully playable on my US ps2?

No...UK games are in PAL format and US/Canada are in NTSC(?) format...they will not work in the other without a mod chip.

Nope....
but, US PS2 consoles may be compatible with newer UK tellies (most new ones can handle NTSC now). Do a little digging, if nothing else you may be able to get an adapter... much cheaper than buying a new console and all new games.

But then, you won't be able to play UK games, so you'll have to import US games.
I have a friend facing this dilemma.

You are able to buy this thing at www.codejunkies.com called a FreeLoader. What you do is pop in the free loader disk, when the free loader asks you to place the game in, you do so.
