It may not have been a total wast for you, but be careful. Some readers think you are wasting their time because they don't consider it to be a serious question. Also the question has likely been asked hundreds of times. It gets old if you've been participating at Yahoo Answers for a while.
Others will thank you for the opportunity to answer an easy question and therefore giving them two easy points.
If you vote for a "Best Answer" you'll get three points back. In that case you only "waste" 2.

Well, it depends on your definition of waste. Do you mean you've thrown them away, never to see them again? That you will now NEVER reach level 7? That the time you spend reading the answers will also be wasted?
