Have you ever been to McAllen Texas? It wouldn't be my first choice. It's been awhile for me but I would imagine with all of the border issues going on that you would be right in the middle of things. I have a real problem with an american city that lists Mexico as the first tourist attraction on it's website. Check it out:

I would consider Corpus Christi more suitable and with a lot better job prospects.
