I do know it's very contagious!, you need to go to a Dr. to get medicine to cure it, It last about 1 week after you start getting treated for it, Not sure on the serious factor, and it's caused by bacterial infection or catching it from other people.

Pink eye is a viral infection caused by an adenovirus. The course of the infection will last about 2 weeks. Treatment is aimed at patient comfort because there is not really a cure (like the common cold). It can be extremely serious, and if not properly managed, can sometimes lead to vision loss if the cornea becomes involved and is penetrated by the virus. Also, its EXTREMELY contagious and management by an eye doctor is a necessity.

Pink eye is a virus that is highly contageous and is passed from person to person, usually by touch. This is one of the important reasons that people always must wash thier hands and not touch their faces. It can easily spread from one eye to the other so it is important to not rub and scratch at your eyes, as this only makes it worse. You need to get some eye drops from the doctor to get it to clear up, I am not sure what is is exactly, but it works!

Its extremely contagious..
Usually about a week treated
Untreated can cause serious eye problems
They get it through contact with others who have it, it can spread through a school almost overnight. You can get if from shaking hands and then rubbing your eyes.

Its easily treated ...go to the eye doc. He will give you drops and then that's it.

If you have it. stay away from people til you get over it.

I would recommend this site to answer your questions properly. There are other reliable sites as well. For a severe case of pink eye, especially bacterial conjunctivitis, I would suggest that you consult your doctor as proper diagnosis and prescription topical antibiotics may be needed to treat this condition promptly and properly.

Off the top of my head:

It lasts a few days if treated. Untreated, I do not know.

A doctor will probably prescribe you an antibiotic eye cream.

It isn't very serious, but it is very contagious.

Someone with pink eye rubs their eye. You touch something they touched and touch YOUR eye and BINGO you have it too!

The medical name for it is conjunctivitis.

I've had it, yes it is contagious.

I wanted a natural treatment, and I found Dr. Schulze's Eyebright forumula. Not for the faint of heart! It include cayenne pepper, follow the directions and you're fine. It cured my pink eye.

I can't remember too much except that I had it when I was a kid...I'd wake up in the morning and have to put a warm facecloth to my eyes just to get them open! They'd be all stuck together and crusty...eew...I think I had to take medication, referred by the Doctor, and I'm gonna guess a few days to a week...maybe...could have only been a couple days....yeah...I'm not much help, am I? Oh well. I tried.
