"Carbon dioxide and other gases warm the surface of the planet naturally by trapping solar heat in the atmosphere. This is a good thing because it keeps our planet habitable. However, by burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil and clearing forests we have dramatically increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere and temperatures are rising."

There are many things you can do, including simple things like replacing your old light bulbs with the newer kind that use 60% less energy. You can read more on what you can do to help down slow down global warming here:

I suggest you see "An Inconvenient Truth". It explains global warming well and why the threat is so real. And by the way, the answerer above me is wrong, the Earth is not a closed system.

some say it's humankind's perpetual bonfire of industry and autos. I don't know if I buy that. Consider the heat, fire (+ resultant carbon dioxide), and power that a single volcano throws into the atmosphere. Did the earth get warmer in the years of major eruptions? The earth is *largely a closed energy system...warmer here generally results in colder over there.

I think it's planetary cyclical stuff. I could be wrong. But even so, I don't see people riding bicycles anytime soon. People would actually rather die. That's the kind of sentiment you're up against when you wish for global change.

*"largely"....not a closed system, right. But 'largely', as in "for the most part." ...thanx.

Or, you could go to the Junkscience.com site and read what it has to say. For one thing if you want to check the earth's temperature where to you put the thermometer.

We've had several ice ages, and periods of higher temperatures. I don't think they really know, for sure if it is actually warming up or not.

One thing for sure the climate has changed in the past before the industrial revolution, so my guess is human activities have no measurable impact on the world wide climate. It is a natural process and I don't think there is anything we can do about it.

As late as 1974 they were talking about the begining of an ice age, we had several years of extremely cold winters.

The real deal is we have a lot of scientist and researchers that depend on government funding for their livelyhood. And the best way for them to get funding is to claim there is a crisis.

people.

Every time you throw stuff away its polluting whick thinens the atmosphere, which is what blocks the sun from hitting earth too hard.
Thats why recycling is very important.
And it is better if you buy an used car that gets great mileage.
Building a new car pollutus so buy an used one.
Just try to reuse as much as possible,
And make sure to turn off everyhting your not using.
And don't litter.
Try and eat more natural food.
And plant trees.

Global warming caused the oceans temperature to go up 1 degree, which is what caused all the huricanes, including Katrina.

We have to start taking care of the earth now so that there will be one tomorow.

Trains, planes, automobiles & manufacturing companies.
There has never been as many cars on the road as there
are today, & this is true for foreign countries too.

They don't know exactly how to get it under control, but a good
first step, would be to invest our money into research, instead
of investing it in war.

War - that is so yesterday, like our pres. Science is Now.
