The human race has a future if and only if you believe by faith in the one man who promised eternal life. He proved that you can beat death by rising from the dead. He is the only one out of all the prophets who claimed to be God and who has published a book that explains the entire story of man from how he was created to how he will end up in the future, and what you have to do in order to get there, namely to believe in the son Jesus. The only explaination for the dinosaurs disappearing off the face of the earth is the flood, found right in the beginning chapters of genesis. There is a good link that I found recently that might be of interest to you:
http://www.abundantbible.org/index.htm
as well as http://www.khouse.org, click on the 66/40 radio show link and you will probably have all your questions answered there through Dr. Chuck Missler an engineer who is probably one of the most brilliant minds of our day and age. And if you doubt, just know that there is no where else to turn in such a glim age since Darwinism has been disproven and is no longer permitted to be taught in schools, we have no other account of how we got here than the six days of creation. Entropy is the second law of thermodynamics that has proven everything goes from the state of order to disorder, not the other way around, DARWIN!

Depends on what you consider a future! There is almost nothing on Earth (or in space) that could totally anihilate us - we might be able to prevent any asteroids from hitting the planet, or if not we could build good shelters! No other Earth's speecies are a danger to us. We're safe at least for the next 2000 years!
But...
As all other planets, Earth is getting closser to the Sun al the time so eventually, the Sun will fry it! We might even avoid this by moving to another planet (like Mars), or even to a satelite of a planet (like Jupiter's moon Europa).
Ofcourse, you never know, but one thing is certain: we have much better chances then them old Dino's!

Stephen Hawking put this question forward a few months ago.

it seems the wars in this world are not over religion or rights etc but over OIL.

Eventually as the sacred non renewable source comes to a close I think water will become fought over.

By that time, global warming will take its toll and our climate will be unimaginable to think about never mind to live in.

So - in response i think the human race may have a future but only before we go through another cycle - and re-start....

will we learn our lessons? - even the smallest of efforts will lessen the crisis

Forget the future. Enjoy the present. Life is a circle and history tells us that we get extinct and life starts again. This is long topic. I do not believe that the Earth was the only planet that experienced life. We as human will be extinct and this is a fact. Do not worry my Earth friend, you will not be around. Find ways to protect and respect Mother Earth and you will contribute in delaying the extinction process.
Over and out.

Well. that depends...

on whether or not sometime in the near future an asteroid-sized meteor slams into the Earth...

That depends. If we get off this planet and spread out, then we (or at least our descendents) will live till the end of the universe.
