My mom died when I was 8 (I'm now 14) the pain has become stronger also I have no longer been able to talk about it why??? I used to be able to talk about it, but now even if someone mentions my mom I almost cry. Why??? I have an 18 year old friend and I tell her everything (she's like my older sister that I don't have) but I just can't talk to her about my mom. Why??? It almost seems like I don't want to talk about it cause I'm embarressed to cry in front of my friends. Could that be the reason, and why????

I think you should just take your time with your feelings.I mean like that was your mom you just lost.right?and who cares if you cry in front of your friends.they should understand.if they don't just say what if you lost your mom, wouldn't you want other people to understand too.so don't worry about it.you'll get over it when you're ready.not anybody else.

A girl going through adolescence need her mom more than ever; you're going through a lot of physical and emotional changes and it might just be that those changes are making you even more aware that you don't have your mom there to help you through them.
If you're embarassed to cry in front of your friends, do you have an adult woman (an aunt maybe) that you can talk to? Maybe it would be easier to cry in front of someone who loved your mom too. Or maybe talking to a therapist might help. Going to therapy doesn't mean there's something wrong with you, just that you need someone you can talk to comfortably and without worrying about being embarassed.

well, my grandfather died when i was 6 (im also 14) and it was 8 years yesterday. i felt i lost my dad because i never knew my mom and dad til after he died. and i feel the same way. i think the problem is that you understand everything about the death more clearly now that u r mature enough. also you could be embarrassed to cry in front of them but u shouldnt. because if they r ur real friends they will totally have your back.

It makes me feel bad that you have so much pain, my best advice is see if your school counselor is somebody you feel comfortable talking to. Sometimes, it is nice to talk to a neutral party, and cry to release what has been held inside for so long. You have to let the build up go or it will get worse. Best of luck, I sure hope you find some peace. Just talk to someone you trust at least. :) Don't be afraid to cry, that is what tears are for... to release pressure.

my mom died when i was 5, then last year I started not talking about her as much, inside I felt like if i didnt talk about her that meant i didnt love her. It helped me to remember that she is in a good place and you will be with her one day. Just because she is not here on earth with you does not mean shes not looking over you. Its ok to have a hard time taking about her, that just means that you love her.

Well, sometimes its just too painful! But you took a big step talking here. If you were able to do this, then maybe soon you could talk to your friend. It doesnt matter if you cry infront of your friend. She'll understand. You don't need to be embarrased about it. Its ok....just contact me if you want to talk about it...

I'm REALLY sorry about your mother again. It's time for you to move on with your life. DON'T BE LIKE THAT.move on.i don't think ur mom would like to see u like that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let people see REAL YOU. You can't hide urself all your life. Go ot there and have fun. I know how you feel. Go shopping with ur friends and get a new clothe and make up. Do ur hair in something other then a ponytail.
Don't you think that you shouls top feeling bad for urself? You have to be strong NO MATTER WHAT!

Everyone feels bad after someone that is close to them die. When you were younger you didn't understand what happened. And now you actually knew what happened. My friends, mother died of breast cancer when she was 14. And she doesnt like talking about her and she is 41....

lifes tough.
i didn't used to be able to talk about how my dad used to be my mom and how hes done crack eversince i was little. but after i talked about it it started to get easier to say each time.
try writing everything down. then read it out loud to yourself and see how you feel then. after i suggest if you share with anyone it should be your good friend (big sister) she knows you and loves you. she won't judge, laugh, maybe cry but shes there for you as you are for her.
be strong. Dream as if you'd live forever, Live as if you'd die tomorrow.
