I have taken 6 pregnancy tests in the last 2 days ( all different name brands) They were all really light positives, but definately a line! I went to my ob today and they did a blood hcg test and they said it was negative ? My regular dr was puzlled , because she had never heard of this happening before and I will have a new blood test taken in 2 days from my primary care dr. Do you think there could be a chance the lab messed up or mixed up my blood with someone elses. What do you think , pregnant or not? Serious answers only please. does anyone work in a lab?

There is a chance you had a miscarriage. Many people have miscarriages and don't know about it if it is close to their periods. What happened to you has happened many times before, and it's most often because by the time the people went to the doctor they had a miscarriage. When they take the test at home it is positive but when they go to the doctor it is negative because the baby has passed. There will usually be blood that is passed, but every once in awhile the blood isn't expelled. Take another home pregnancy test and if it is positive maybe you have a really good HPT that can detect the hormones before the blood test, but generally the blood tests are a better indicator than a urine test. I doubt that the urine tests were incorrect though, they are VERY rarely wrong, especially if you took 6 test. Do you feel pregnant or have any signs or did you have signs and you lost them recently. Loss of pregnancy signs can also be a miscarriage.

I had a blood test before taking any test at home, and it came back negative. However, I was not convinced. I week later (after having crazy dreams, and just the feeling of being pregnant) I took a home pregnancy test that came back positive. I then went back to the doctor and took a pee test, it also came back positive. I never got an explaination for the negative... but I am now 16 weeks pregnant...

So yes it is possible that the blood test was wrong... But relax in two days you will have another test in 2 days... Also, does your nornal doctor have the original test to compare to? That way if your levels are still low, she can compare them to the previous test to see if they have increased at all. And even if they are low, but they have increased, you are pregnant!

From my experience yes they are right.. most of the time 98-99% accurate. When i was pregnant i had my hCG test and it was really low in the begining.. A hCG blood test is in most cases more accurate than a urine test.

i was told by my Dr that false positives are really rare - i think you need to have another blood test that is really weird.
