this is very awkward for me and really embarressing. it seems like masturbating is the only way to climax. and i do it a weird way. i have to lie face down on the bed, with my finger inside and rubbing my clitoris at the same time but i have to use my pelvis to thrust in and out. then i get an orgasm in 1 minute literally. but when me and my partner have sex, i can NEVER do it, it hurts instead and i dont feel ANYTHING compared to the way i do when i masturbate? why is this? is this a esteem issue? i have only orgasmed ONCE in my life during sex and it was when i was on top and i was grinding my clitoris on his pelvic bone! is this normal???

it's a self esteem issue if you think it's a self-esteem issue...
but it's not uncommon to have difficulties.
because have been able to climax on top it's probably just that he's not doing the things that you like, probably because you're not sure what he should do or where he should go to tell him to. first of all you should be comfortable enough with the other person to tell them what you need them to do. then, if you're not sure exactly what to tell them to do you, you can still tell them what not to do. if a certain motion/angle rubs uncomfortably, tell him that, and tell him to try any different one he can think of until you find some that are better. shifting his weight or propping himself up vs. not propping himself up can change things quite a bit. if you tell him about what you like about doing things yourself, he may be able to figure out some ways of hitting the same spots in the same ways all by himself. a guy that cares about you will try pretty hard to make sure you feel as good as he does.
also, focusing on that inability can stress you during, and make it even more difficult, so try to just relax.
