I'm guessing ALL ATMs have Braille, it just creates a humorous disconnect when they're installed in a drive through lane.

What I think is funnier is one bank I went to actually had a sign near their ATM that said, "Braille is for our 'non-sighted' customers"!!! Obviously!!! Who else would it be for? And by the way, they're not "non-sighted" - they're BLIND!!!

didn't you know that seeing eye dogs drive now? just kidding.

yours is a good question since the blind don't drive, and the ATM is on the driver's side. it doesn't make sense for someone to exit the car only to walk around it to use the machine. i guess in banks' quest to accommodate every customer and comply with disability accommodation laws, braille was included at the drive up ATM although it really doesn't make sense.

i used to wonder why braille was on the keys of walk up ATMs, until someone explained that there is a speaker connection for headphones.

It sounds like a funny question I admit and I laugh at it as well I have a mother that has one good eye the other one is completely no good taken by Gacomma she has low vission in her good eye but she does read braille she can see but not to good so she can see the atm screen if need be but she knows what the steps are just not where the keys are at times

I agree that's almost a slap in the face. But let someone who's blind, partially blind, or to damn blind to be driving find out that the option to use braille isn't there and there be a unsensitivity lawsuit. I guess you can always have someone drive you to the ATM but then you still won't be pushing the buttons....I think it's just not to be hit with the lawsuit.

Wow, you are funny. Really. Been reading email forwards lately?

Great waste of 5 points.

And for a real answer: required by law. The driver isn't the only one who is able to use a drive-up ATM. Put blind person in the back seat behind driver, drive to ATM, and they are able to punch it in.

That always makes me laugh, since I'm driving up to them, but I also see people walk up to them. And not all ATM's are drive throughs. There are lots of them on sidewalks in large cities.

So that when somebody drives them to the atm machine they can do their own transaction. Also not all people who use brail are 100% blind.

Because the ATM manufacturers don't want to spent more to make different models , might as well keep them all the same
