man, if you are a writer, you have the power to create! that means, you should find ideas for a short story yourself.

maybe you need ideas that will help you come up with a short story topic. these ideas are subject to your own creativity, your perception on everyday events and ironies. be observant and be interpretive. stories come from the sidewalk, from the convenience store, from news headings.

if you look for a story, you'll find one.

Metaphors...
Take anything - the road, an insect, a cloud, do a little research and figure out in what way is it a metaphor for something big, like life, nature, death, etc. While working on this, write everything down and read it when you're finished with the research. This way, you can make it interesting, maybe even funny and smart! What more would you need to satisfy yourself AND the reader?

When I was in highschool in my english class we had to write a story around this idea:

" a man walks through/ under a waterfall..."

So what was behind the waterfall? Is there a reason he arrived at the waterfall? etc..etc..

There were some pretty good ideas come from that.

Im still to this day trying to perfect my waterfall story.
Its a good topic/idea you can go anywhere with it.

There is a little book called "The Writer's Block," which gives great ideas for stories. It has scenarios, topics, and sometimes just one word or picture, and you take it from there. In the book, there are hundreds and hundreds of topics. You really should check it out if you want ideas for creative writing. :)

A new funny twist on the chupacabra myth would be interesting. Like an interstellar hitchhiker, shaped like an egg, who can only survive on plasma.
